Too Wordy?

  • Mood: Contemplative
I've started to notice i've become very technical in almost all material i submit to the web lately. i also tend to provide solutions as best as i can even if said help wasn't asked for (i.e. Kri5s post on shh on his iphone).  I have noticed i do this with my wife as well and i know it bothers her.  I just tend to assume that if there was a problem to solve that one would not only want to solve it but that they would alos like to know how to solve similar problems in the future. (Possibly because of my experinece in IT and Tech Support)  I work this way and welcome new info from any source regardless of reputation, i just alway try to double check the info with another source.  But i have noticed that some poeple only like to hear suggestions from sources that they (for one reason or another) deem as the authority and that all other sources are invalid.  I wonder how manny people i with my approach to knowledge and how it is gained and assimilated.

If i annoy you, i apologize it is not my intention.

As a closing remark - it is my opinion that those who only accept info from one perspective have extremely feeble minds and negatively impact acceptance, unity, and growth - and most of all intelligence.

Soup is good for you that's why.

In case Jay doesn't know someone should tell her that her domain name expired. (and btw the title refers to spinch's tag)

Anniversary

  • Mood: Happy
Seems like today is a day for new blog posts if i take a queue from the other blogs i read so her goes.
Today i have now been married to my hot wonderful wife for four years.  I am certainly lucky to have her. We are going to go out for some really good steak and then watch Hairspray because she really wants to see it and frankly so do i. I also bought her a necklace off of shnoop and she reallly likes it.  She liked it so much that she has given me the go ahead to buy what ever single electronic piece of equipment i desire so i am stoked for that.  I was suprisingly sad to hear about FamousJays incedent with the grill (suprised because i didn't get along too well with her), i hope all fairs well there.  And on gubi's blog he's created a simpson character of himself i don't know the site that did his but i remember burger king doing it a while back, it was on the front page of digg. Well i'm about done before i stop making coherent thoughts so i'm going to just leave it here.

Gizmodo

  • Mood: Frustrated
I am pretty close to taking this site off of my great sites list. The softcore porn that pops up on this site is getting more and more frequent and i'm not liking the change.  Has anyone else noticed the change are am i just paranoid.  Also it wouldn't be bad if they linked to nsfw stories (like digg or fark do) it's that they through near porn up on the main page.

I'm really just mad because other than this blemish i really like the site but it's not worth my job to visit it.

Man on a mission

  • Mood: Awesome! Harry Potter Comes Out Today!!!
So i'm on a mission. i'm hoping maybe doyle, jay, kri5s, or gubi may be able to help as i know they all code a little bit.  When i finally host my blog i want to add something that tracks the last time someone viewed my blog and informs them how many post have been made since the last time they visited.  I prefer to have this done without logins. I was thinking something along the lines of cookies.

Thoughts Anyone?

Wow.

  • Mood: I have no idea!
What i wouldn't give to understand myself or to understand how emotions really work.

I was just skipping around reading blogs some of my old friends link to and found one who had some sadder posts

and i found that i found them appealing not in any mean way but deppression is appealing for me, i don't quite understand why but ifi had to explain it i think i like it because it's so intense and all encompassing. anyone who knows me knows i do things in extremes so i guess that fits. but why does it have to be this way for me - i don't want to like depression - but i do i want to dive in headfirst to emotional situations i seem unable to get enough i want to give so much to some one in pain i want to take thier pain and make it my own ( i have no idea where this is going by the way ) i like sadness becasue it's reliable, you can't always be happy, but you can always be sad. sometimes i feel so alone like a little kid, like my daughter when she get hurt or scared and i wish there was someone there to hold me the way i hold her

but then i don't want to feel better i just want to continually hurt becasue thats the only time i feel like i'm getting as much love a affection as i want (even though i certainly don't deserve it)

this is one of the wierder post i've done and mabey this age chart i made for my self will show you why

Actual Age: 25 yrs
Intellectual Age: 28 yrs
Emotional Age: 10 yrs sometimes 5

I truly feel that way most of the time, but usually i'm smart enogh to second guess myself or ignore the feeling - not today though

at least i have Harry Potter to look forward to

This is for Jeff.

I don't know if anyone who reads my blog (if anyone other than brandon does) but if someone who read this is still in contact with Jeff point him over here.

Jeff once told me he was looking for a way to reboot his PC at home remotely using his other PC at home i was looking at DIY:HAPPY today and it seems some one devised a way to do something very close to that.

Downhill

I don't know if the rest of you visit digg as frequently as i do but today has seen travesty upon travesty in the news here are a few i read

man fired by company because someone was shot and he carriesa gun for protection and helps to stop the bleeding of the shot woman.

Girl raped and murdered in a dorm and school hides police invetigation

man killed by angry black mob for trying to help his friend whom the mob was attacking

cops tazer a man for having a siesure

cops tazer a man becuase he wouldn't do what they unlawfully told him to do

cops tazer a man who covered him self in gas and the man lights on fire and burns to death

and that's just today

the state of the majority of poeple in this country i appauling - being lds, and hearing what the end of the world is to be like i am 100% certain that the end is not far off (at this rate i would guess in the next 100 years)

it's so frustrating to be part of a society that is destined for doom just because of stupidity and arrogance

I feel violated

So my work gave me a smartphone which is awesome, but i lost the stylus yesterday, so today i go on to ebay and find a set of 3 pen/stylus replacements for $2 + $5 shipping (that's $7 for you the slow people).  It was the cheapest by about a dollar so i buy it only to find out (after i already won the auction) that the seller automatically adds $2 insurance, i bought it anyway but i felt cheated, why do people do that!?!?!?!?

Jerks - i'm just lucky it was only $2

the site that ripped me off by the way is eforcity.com

Hmmmm.....

I say hmmm..... becasue of what i just read on spins blog.  I can't help but feel a little responsible for it (quite a bit responsible to tell the truth). i won't lie to you, i'm quiet pleased that if you search for my previous employer and add the word sucks, my old blog is the second hit. when everyone started cracking down on these in the first place it was me and they told me to stop - i remember that day, after the meeting i went to my supervisors supervisor and explained my actions and was completey validated - (content wasn't the problem it was when content was submitted) that was the first time.

i remember a second time my supervisor walked over to my desk and had me type in a buisness website of a partner of ours and asked me if i knew them - i said no - he said well they know you. (I later found out they had informed my company that needed to take a look at me and take some action)

last time was the biggest of all i had been fed up and sent a respectfully heated response all the way up to the ceo of our parent company and posted it on my blog i was reprimanded for that one becasue i was sharing internal email adresses of higher ups - but i tell you one thing that email literally saved my job a boss of mine was attempting to fire me in the same hour, fortunately for me his boss wasn't very pleased with him and came to talk to me directly - soon after the former boss left the company

I don't know if it made a difference to anyone else but for me i felt like i hade done something to make my corner of the world better which is a big reason why i went against the grain - i just hated to watch something i percieved to be wrong go unchecked.

so all in all i'm proud of what i did and was happy to see that it upset someone so much becasue it makes them have to think about what they're doing

i hope spin continues on because i really enjoy reading his work related posts

end rant

Lucky

Reading spinch's blarg makes me feel lucky, lucky that i was required to move out here when i did.  I think i would've raised hell and been fired with all that has happened recently at my old job. I am glad however to hear that most all my friends there have figured something out that will take care of them.  I always felt like my old department was a sinking ship - and i am validated by the recent events, i wish the best to everyone back in utah and miss you all quite a bit - i even miss bantering with Famous Jay ( good times . .     i just hope that people continue to blog or at least keep in touch because i don't really develope friendships outside of work and the people i now work for/with aren't really tech people so we don't have a whole lot in common

Diggapointing

Okay so Digg is one of my favorite sites but seems to hold less and less value everyday

It used to be that you could find info there first; that geeks would share things before mainstream could

Now i swear i vist 3 sites and the info there comes before digg gets it and those three sites constitutes 60% - 70% of the content on digg

The sites are Gizmodo, Engadget, and Lifehacker (although i see diy:happy stories there too)

I'd be fine if people would just link to these sites as that's where there info came from but they dont, they copy the article (sometimes word for word) and post it on their own site.

I guess i'm just tired of digg being used as a traffic generater i wish it could be breaking tech news again - without all the crap

that's what suck when a site like digg becomes popular - all the money grubbin fools come out to play, digg shouldn't be used as a way to get traffic to your site (that's missing the point in my opinion your site should strive to contain info that demands to be spread on digg)

oh well, digg did reveal to me that paris got sent back today to server her full 45 day sentnece (thanks to doyle <---- i watch what he diggs)

end rant

Edit ----> I just realized i had digg only showing tech stories so the percentages would be off if you were browsing all stories.

Job

I'm sure some of you are wondering why i now have so much time on my hands.

Here's Why

I am the sole it support for a banking administrative office, i support about 20 tops but they are important enough to the bank to require an onsite tech.  So pretty much my job isn't technically to do anything, my job is to know how to solve problems very quickly and to be onsite and available to do so.  Many would think this great, but i tell you it's infuriating for me, i've turned over a few leaves from my last job and want to be productive, so i am now self teaching C++ to myself becasue i am BORED. However on a positive note once i get residency here i will be going back to school so this job will be really nice then

pay is pretty good too, it's up about $4.00 from what my job in utah was

on a side note because of the job i can now look for housing and a new(old) car

also i'm looking to purchase a motorcycle and would consider picking it up in utah if anyone knows some one whos selling one for cheap

- i have a feeling i'm going to be posting alot -

  • Mood: Happy

So the blog here is how i want it for now.

The Great Sites Section includes the majority of the sites i visit everyday, you'll notice most of them are updated more than once a day - if you have any suggestions for more let me know

the blogs are all the friends blogs i've been reading lately

and if i can find a way to send a picture as an attachment in an email (not a text message) from my phone then i can update photo's from anywhere
